EMES launches Digital Equality Fund
In June 2020 the EMES Executive Committee agreed to set up a Digital Equality Fund:
During the Covid-19 pandemic many Quakers have held meeting for worship online. New for many Friends, online worship can include those for whom it is impractical to come in person to meeting for worship in a physical space. Some people are excluded from online worship: perhaps their internet connection is not strong enough, they do not have a suitable device or they do not have the technical knowhow to access meeting for worship online.
We do not know how long Friends will be meeting for worship online or in a hybrid (some people in person and some people online) format. It might be a long-term solution to enable isolated Quakers to keep in touch with their group or wider Quaker community.
To help meet these challenges, we present the EMES Digital Equality Fund. Applications are invited from individuals around Europe and the Middle East. The grant limit is £250 (or equivalent in a different currency). Applicants and their meetings are encouraged to also make a financial contribution to the cost if this is possible. A total of £5,000 has been allocated to this fund initially.
How to apply:- Please use the EMES Digital Equality Fund Application Form to request funding;
- Applications will be considered as they are received. We aim to respond within 14 days.
The EMES executive committee will review the use of this fund at the end of 2020.
This work fits with the EMES strategic aims on sustainability and increasing our technological capability in our current ten year strategy.
Spiritual Growth Fund
Alongside this special fund, which is only for individuals, the EMES Spiritual Growth Fund is available for individuals or meetings to apply for funding for projects and work. The objectives of, and how to apply to, the fund are listed here.
