Successful joint campaign raises support for the Ramallah Friends School
The Quaker International Educational Trust (QuIET) (a UK-based charity primarily supporting the Brummana High School outside of Beirut, Lebanon) teamed up with the Ramallah Friends School (RFS) and its Quaker institutional supporter in the United States, Friends United Meeting (FUM), to campaign to raise money for wellbeing programming for school community after the traumatic invasion of Gaza and escalation of violence in the West Bank last month. In just three weeks, the QuIET campaign reached and exceeded its goal of £7,000 to raise £10,600 for the RFS community.
Head of the Ramallah Friends School, Rania Ma’ayeh, shares her thanks:
“Dear Friends,
We sincerely thank you for your overwhelming support and generous donations toward our well-being campaign. Your contributions have become a beacon of hope during these challenging times, providing invaluable assistance in ensuring our students and staff’s physical and emotional well-being.
Thanks to your support, we are taking concrete steps to enhance the well-being of our school community. We are delighted to share that we are hiring a counselor to provide dedicated support, and we have also engaged a specialist working with our children. This specialist offers strategies to navigate anxiety, foster focus, and promote calmness through yoga and breathing. Your support has allowed us to implement these vital initiatives addressing the immediate needs of our community. The specialist’s guidance is proving to be instrumental in helping our children cope with anxiety, providing tools for self-calming and creating a supportive environment for their mental health.
In these challenging times, the profound loss of tens of thousands of lives, including 10,000 children, and the growing number of orphaned and wounded children profoundly affects us. The escalating violence in the West Bank amplifies the fear felt by our children as our community as a whole navigates through these challenging times.
We sincerely thank you for standing by us during these difficult times. Your support makes a meaningful difference, and we are profoundly thankful for your commitment to our school community.
With gratitude,
Rania Ma’ayeh”
